I am Sun, Jing

Sun, Jing is an animation director/animator based in Chengdu(China) and Los Angeles. In 2018, she obtained her MFA from California State University Los Angeles where she is majoring in animation studies with a concentration in aesthetic animation shorts. Her interest in animation began during her BFA study in Jilin Animation institute in China when she had the opportunity to cooperate with Dmitry Geller, a Russian independent animation director. Their animation shorts were included by numerous film festivals, like the 85th Academy Award and Holland Animation Film Festival. The awards they won include Grand Prix, in Hiroshima, the Best Short Film with “Golden Monkey” in China, and the Jury Diploma with KROK in Russia. 


Inspired by this international cooperation, Jing went to the United States to pursue her MFA. During the four years of study, she has completed her independent animations, "The Old Man and The Pears" and "Prey", The two films have been screened at various museums, film festivals, and libraries, for instance, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, China Sound Academy, and European Animation Center.


Her goal is to continue to explore in the aesthetic areas of animation, to invent and explore more possibilities in visualization.
